The theme of the exhibition is memory, considered as the capability to memorize experiences through which knowledge can be acquired. The connection between memory and experience is not always one-way. Memory, by adapting itself during the time, re-creates its world that is always a new one. The artists featured in Memory Traces make an individual research on the traces of their souvenirs, thus leading the public in the labyrinths of memory and of life. The exhibition and the catalogue present paintings, sculptures, videos, installations, photographs and drawings, thus reflecting the variety of contemporary art forms of expression. The catalogue includes texts by Beate Reifenscheid, Director of the Koblenz Ludwig Museum, by the art critic Juha-Heikki Tihinen and by the artists Mika Karhu and Mikko Ijaes.
