Melotti
Hammacher, A. M.
Esemplare in ottime condizioni di una monografia non comune -- The uniqueness of Fausto Melotti's sculptures, paintings and drawings isolates his work from the schemes of established art. The strenght of his work lies in the concrete way in which he succeeds in transferring rhythm out of time into space, achieving in that way the dematierialization of sculpture, the anti-sculpture. In Melotti's work there is a determination to analyse all the elements of space, to purify them and use them to bring out a new order, independent of objects : music becoming a leading factor in this process and a primary component in his intellectual formation. All the facets of his work are passages, corridors through which things escape from themselves, as music escapes when it becomes sculpture ; or as sculpture escapes to become music.
